I stood at the edge of a river in Florida, a rope in my hands.
My friends chanting,
"Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!"
I just stood there, clutching the rope, thinking about how cold the water would be, and the fear of the unknown beneath the water. The longer I stood there frozen, the more the fear grew. Completely psyched, I walked away.
The sound of my friends encouraging me brought me back.
"Come on, the water's great! What fun!"
And in my head, I heard the words:
"Fear not, for I am with you."
With confidence and faith, I leaped from the edge and clutched the rope as it swung to the middle of the river.
When I felt it slow down, I felt afraid again.
Then, a calming song filled my head:
"When I am afraid, I put my trust in You".
And I let go. And YES the water was cold! And it felt GOOD. To think I was afraid of this beautiful feeling and might have just walked away!
Anytime we are starting something new, the unknown can be scary. As an entrepreneur, I can say starting a new business feels both CRAZY busy AND like all your work is sinking into a black hole at the same time!
It can be tempting to just stay on the same lame path that feels safer but goes against where you are called to be. Or worse, the path you are on is really hurting you, but you are too afraid to leave. I know we've all been there. But the thing is -- if you never allow yourself to experience the unknown, because of fearful thoughts, you may never experience JOY. Maybe the thing that scares you the most is actually the most REVIVING experience you can imagine!

lyrics
I see no end in sight.
Still the hours fly on by
Leaving me behind
How can hope live in a hole
But there's a voice calling in my soul
Calling for a...
Leap of faith
A better place
I better jump to make my way
Come what may
I will take my leap of faith
Gonna leave gonna leave gonna leave
Gonna leave today it'll be alright
Gonna spread my wings, gonna fly
Letting go letting go letting go
Letting go of what I think I need
I know my soul's gonna guide me
There is something exciting
in exploring the unknown
I'm on the edge
I've come this far
It's time to take
My leap of faith
A better place
I better jump to make my way
Come what may
I will take my leap of faith
My leap of faith
A better place
I better jump to make my way
Come what may
I will take my leap of faith (leap of faith, leap of faith)
Come what may
I will take my leap of faith (leap of faith, leap of faith)
Come what may
